New tax policy creates favorable conditions for businesses

According to the 2016 Doing Business Report of the World Bank, Vietnam’s tax payment index has increased by 5 places, from 173/189 position to 168/189 ranked countries. Cut many tax administrative procedures

Speaking in front of 400 businesses at a dialogue conference between the Ministry of Finance and enterprises on tax policy that took place in Ho Chi Minh City recently, Deputy General Director of the General Department of Taxation Cao Anh Tuan said that recently, reform tax administrative procedures strongly, improve the satisfaction of taxpayers. From the beginning of the year until now, the number of tax administrative procedures has been standardized and reduced from 385 to 300 (85 procedures have been reduced) and the General Department of Taxation has issued a decision to amend and supplement 51 /70 processes and regulations.

Mr. Cao Anh Tuan said that up to now, 100% of localities across the country have implemented electronic tax declaration for businesses. This year, the tax authority continues to expand the online tax filing system for individuals. The first phase applies to individuals having house-for-lease transactions. The General Department of Taxation has signed an agreement with 45 commercial banks to deploy electronic tax payment in 63 localities, thereby cutting 420 hours of tax payment (from 537 hours to 117 hours). The total number of enterprises registered to pay tax electronically through the portal of the General Department of Taxation is 542,735/561,142 operating enterprises, reaching the rate of 96.72%, an increase of 1.72% compared to 2015. Using the service with one of the banks that provided the service was 525,474 enterprises, accounting for 93.64%. The total amount of money that businesses have paid through the electronic tax payment portal of the General Department of Taxation in the 10 months of 2016 is over VND 370.69 billion. The tax sector is piloting an electronic tax refund service. Through pilot implementation, it has received a positive response from organizations and businesses. After reviewing the pilot phase of electronic tax refund, the General Department of Taxation will carry out the implementation nationwide.
